GUiDE Project is a social enterprise forging a new and complementary education pathway in secondary schools in Kenya through connecting learners with mentors and experts in respective fields from their communities to walk them on the journey of academics, personal development, innovation and creativity, talent development, careers development, business projects, and social projects development. The mentors together with learners, build a network of professionals and young leaders to make the school a resource Centre that hosts GUiDE Clubs for the experience.
The innovative initiative seeks to transform and revolutionize the development of young people and prepare them for success and prosperity in the global economy through a strategic approach that supports and supplements formal existing education systems. More so, GUiDE will seek to support and guide young people to think freely and come up with projects and initiatives that are transformational and that help them own their talents, skills, aspirations, and creativity rather than stay condemned to the mercy of examinations only in the formal education setting. Young people prepare for life and wealth creation rather than only for school examinations and tests.

GUiDE Project strives to be an important part of the education experience of a young person in the school curriculum. The experience will provide a ‘guided catharsis’ for learners – assuring the right amount of structured experience – but with plenty of opportunity for self-discovery, personal development and change. Young people are assured to be focused, confident, independent, mature young leaders.
Why the mission
The impact of tomorrow’s quality of individual and community life depends on the quality of today’s education and the life experiences of young learners. While the Kenyan education system is adequately preparing learners for examinations and high grades, the learners lag behind in self-knowledge, career choices, and creative and innovative initiatives. Young people need more than good grades only, to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges and build the future they want for themselves and their communities. .
GUiDE Project seeks to accompany learners in schools so that they get the best not only in academics but more importantly in experiences through structured guidance and mentoring that will help them to develop a great identity, choose the right careers, be creative and innovative, and above all, solve individual and community existing and emerging problems. This is done through mentorship and guidance, training and development, and social enterprise initiatives. GUiDE’s social enterprise projects will promote a passion for social entrepreneurship and business acumen. GUiDE ultimately, shall seek to establish the school as a Resource Center for advancing the cause of developing young people for the future enabling them to take up existing and create new opportunities on the horizon, and make a positive change in their lives and the community. GUiDE seeks to supplement and not replace or be an alternative to the existing education system by developing young people in response to their needs, that of their schools, and that of their communities.

To improve livelihoods and life outcomes
Education should serve the purpose of preparing learners to improve their lives and that of their communities and directly lead to positive life outcomes. A relevant education must be grounded in the most necessary and applicable skills, preparing the next generation to improve their lives immediately and ultimately to improve livelihoods for themselves and their communities.
To provide experiential learning
Experience-based learning is what makes education practical. People learn best when they can apply the knowledge they have gained directly to their lives. It is the experience that is the best teacher. Experience is necessary for young people to build the skills necessary to lead change and create jobs.
To foster powerful relationships
As the great African proverb says “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” It is for this reason that we believe education is not just about information; it is also about relationships. Learners should feel supported enough to take risks, motivated to persist in the face of challenges, and confident in the guidance they receive.

In order to develop leaders with the confidence and persistence they need to succeed, GUiDE believes it is necessary to support them over a long period. The core programs begin at the start of secondary school and provide ongoing support past graduation.
